Who We Are/Beliefs
Christ Covenant is a Biblical, Reformed, Presbyterian church whose desire is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
Biblical
In particular, we are a Biblical church that is committed to the Bible as our highest authority. We believe the Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible word and is the final authority in Faith and Life.
As the final authority, we believe the Bible directs us in how to bring right worship to God and seek to follow it in our worship liturgy.
Along with the church catholic throughout history, we affirm the faith expressed in creeds such as “The Apostles’ Creed” and “The Nicene Creed”:
- We believe in one God, eternal and self-existing in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) who are to be equally loved, honored, and adored.
- We believe that every human being is a sinner in need of grace.
- We believe that God has given that grace by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save sinners and that anyone can be forgiven and redeemed by turning from their sins and believing in Jesus Christ.
- We believe that Jesus really lived, that He really died, that He really rose, and that He will come again in glory at the Last Day.
- We believe that sinners who come to believe in Jesus as Savior by the Word of God are born again, become God’s children, and can never lose that saving grace.
- We believe that we are justified by faith alone and not by our own good works.
- We believe that every Christian is called to live a holy life by the Holy Spirit.
Reformed
We are a Reformed church, adhering to the doctrines and practices of Reformed Protestantism. We subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. The emphasis of our church is on God’s ordinary means of grace of the Word, prayer, and the sacraments. We also believe that God sovereignly works through the proclamation of the gospel to bring people to salvation.
Additionally, we proclaim the five “solas” of the Reformed faith:
- Sola Scriptura – The Bible alone is the sole infallible source of authority for Christian faith and practice.
- Sola Gratia – Salvation is a gift from God, not earned or merited by human effort.
- Sola Fide – Justification is received through faith in Jesus Christ, not through works.
- Solus Christus – Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity, and salvation is found only in Him.
- Soli Deo Gloria – All glory and praise should be directed to God alone, as He is the ultimate source and goal of all things.
Presbyterian
We are a Presbyterian church in our church structure and governance, and are happily a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America.

Our Worship
As we believe the Bible alone is the sole infallible source of authority for Christian faith and practice, we believe that it is also the source of authority for Christian worship. As such, we seek to be faithful to the Regulative Principle of worship, which means that we strive to conform our worship only to that which is commanded in Scripture, or set forth as example. Our liturgy is simple, interactive, and focuses on honoring God in all of its elements.
Preparation for Worship
We provide the congregation with time and quiet to prepare our hearts and minds to come before God in Worship.
Call to Worship
We responsively read the call to worship, which is God’s call to His people to come before Him to worship and praise Him.
Invocation and Welcome
Having been called by God before His presence, we seek His special presence among us, to worship in, through, and among us, through His Spirit.
Singing Praises
We obey Scripture in singing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Our desire is that, as we lift our voices, we are also lifting our hearts in worship to God and using the words to encourage one another.
Confession of Sin
Our call to worship and invocation remind us we are coming before a holy God, which also reminds us of our sins. So that we are not weighed down or distracted by our sins, we take time to corporately confess our sins and to spend a few moments in personal and private confession.
Assurance of Pardon
Lest we focus too much on our sins, we are quickly reminded that if we are in Christ, the sins we confessed have already been forgiven in Christ, and we stand before God as fully justified.
Pastoral Prayer
This is a time to praise, petition, and communicate with God. We often pray for specific needs of our congregation at this time, as well as use words and phrases from the Bible.
Sermon
We preach expositorily through God’s Word, explaining the context of the passage and providing application. We trust that the Holy Spirit uses the preaching of the Word to build up and strengthen those in Christ and to bring others to Christ.
Lord’s Supper
The practice in Scripture seems to be that every time the church gathered, they partook of the Lord’s Supper. As we believe the Supper is a means of grace, we partake of it weekly. We welcome all who have been baptized and are members in good standing of a Bible-believing evangelical church to join us in the Supper.
Benediction
This “good word” is a concluding blessing to the service, and we encourage the congregation to receive it with hands held up.
Doxology/Gloria Patri
This is a final congregational chorus sung to the glory of the Triune God as we depart to serve Him in the days to come.
